Face to Face

In the darkest vanity you see yourself
Clutched up and anxious
Though you slept before
You couldn’t notice what you were shown
Struggling to breathe before you were born

The colours wash up your river
Sweeping out your inner mess
Face to face I see you
In the starlight heaven
Shuddering, silently intent
A world full of fabulousness

Wow, what we’re looking at
Has beaten us calmly to rest
Your eyes twinkle in the evening dust
My heart has a feather touch
Feeling good for once, gazing south
I shall kiss your mouth

*

Inspirational weather
I was ill and you were naked
Blades of grass cut your legs
Through the sand dunes
The sea broke in like bliss
And you ran towards me
And we joined face to face

We huddled round the face of reality
My fever called me to your joy
As the waves streamed off the beach
We wished the cold light would lift
We sheltered in the mist before dawn
We walked out like ghosts in the wilderness
Breathing blue whispers, like children half-smiling
We thought we were lonely
But not together
